Local host blockchain not loading
« on: November 13, 2016, 06:05:59 pm »

Hi guys

My local host http://127.0.0.1:7876/index.html seems to be stuck at block height 1023374.
It has been there for quite some time and the remaining blocks to be downloaded are rising.
Am I missing something? Doesn't the local host work anymore?

Thanks

It sounds like you are on a fork.  The block at height 1023372 is 2399245340244222707 and the block at height 1023373 is 11999259085257040487.  If this doesn't match what you node has, look at nxt.log and see if your node is rejecting blocks.

Then what might be the solution to solve this?

What is in nxt.log?  Is it rejecting blocks from peers?  If so, try popping off the last 50 blocks and let it resynch.  Or delete nxt/nxt_db and let your node download the blockchain again.

If something else is wrong, I need to know what is in nxt.log to diagnose the problem.

Where can I find the nxt/nxt_db or txt.log file? I am on Mac.

On macintosh machines, NXT will keep data (such as the blockchain database) in a hidden folder.

This folder is located at "/Users/YOURUSERNAME/Library/Application Support/Nxt Wallet/"

There are also some API commands that you can use (go to http://localhost:7876/test) and look under Debug

The GetLog command will show the last n lines of the log

The PopOff command will allow you to pop n blocks from the chain

You need the server admin password to use these commands.

I deleted the db file. It is now downloading the blockchain again.
Where can I download a recent NXT blockchain file? Peerexplorer doesn't seem to offer it anymore?

Thanks for your help guys

correction: it seems it still offers the db file. Is it safe to download this file from peer explorer and use it?

It's safe.
when you downloaded and started NXT client, let it download a few missing blocks and check if the last block id you have is the same as nxtportal.org. You can also open web interface of some openAPI nodes and check their version of block id to make sure you're not on a fork using peerexplorer's blockchain. For a rare occasion peerexplorer's blockchain is on a fork you'll instantly spot the discrepancy.

I put the new db file in the NXT map.
How long does it take for the client to start?
It seems it is taking an unusual long time...
