Hello folks,

I've been away for a looong while (personal reasons) and just decided to come back after I've seen BTER hack and see what's really happening recently.

Is it certain that BTER will be able to pay every altcoin? Do they even have enough resources to do that?

It seems like I do have 45000 NXT on BTER but that's probably including my BTCD-Unity stakes. It's not just me and BTCD-Unity failed quite a bit, right? I did have high hopes for that project but seems like it failed to deliver. Or there's something I'm missing?

How many things maintained their price during bear market?
In BTC terms SuperNET is a bit above the ICO price, in NXT terms almost double.

If this is your definition of failure, then I guess it is failed since it didnt double in BTC terms and didnt 3x in NXT terms.

But it is not just about price, there are over 400 people in SuperNET slack, we are actively testing v1 GUI. ramchains and realtime MGW is released and in maintenance mode, InstantDEX is in testing. plus a lot more code has been written and waiting for GUI and testing.

Hello James,

I wasn't really stating a conclusion. As I said, I've just started checking the market&projects and price is the first&easiest to see. I'm aware of the major drop in BTC thus in crypto but I guess I was just "hoping" that Unity/SuperNET will keep it's value against BTC.

I'm HODLing anyway, so short term prices are not crucial. It's just not a happy scene to come back and see half of your crypto assets are trapped in BTER and the other half has lost much of its value.
Me being kinda dramatic and sad it's all :-)

bear market combined with major hack, this is suffering for all of us...
At least SuperNET is holding against BTC, in fact it is at the low end of its price cycle and still above ICO price, which if it wasnt a bear market wouldnt be much to be happy about, but considering most things are down 50%+, it is at least stability

With InstantDEX around the corner and it being monetized, we could start seeing the first crypto with meaningful dividends from internally generated profits

I wouldn't put half of my money in your projects if I wasn't confident in you mate.
Happy to see your sleepless nights continue to deliver better projects :-)

I'm sure from the 5 Million NXT they still have left from the last "hack" and the ~7500 BTC they just received they should be able to cover it, but I doubt they will.

More than I feel for Bter, I feel for those who are stuck with it.

If we are ready to invest in having an efficient and trustworthy exchange, we should better try to find ways to get Bitstamp adding NXT. Bitstamp unlike Bter has proven itself to be the antithesis of Mt Gox. If we could negotiate a way to be accepted by Bitstamp, we don't need any other promotion. It will also be for the good of Bitstamp and cryptocurrency in general. NXT is to BTC what the Swiss franc is to the US dollar. Such a step should ultimately benefit BTC too since through the acknowledgement of NXT, awareness of the cryptocurrency breakthrough should increase.

Patience is the rule of thumb for major innovations!

Cant remember bitstamp disclosed(full report) why they lost 19 000 Bitcoins recently.  :-X

Well, they at least came back sound on their two? feet!

As per your remark, I forwarded it to the Bitstamp staff and this is the reply I got:
"...due to the still ongoing investigation by law enforcement agencies, we are unfortunately unable to provide you with any information regarding recent events, apart from details published in our news section"
I think that they still deserve the benefit of the doubt especially for a reasonable time span to be given for such an investigation!

Which 7500 BTC you are talking about? They "just" received what?
Do you imply that those "stolen" BTC's are still on another wallet of theirs?

Yes, he's implying they stole it, along with the NXT. Since they paid 400 BTC to get all but 8m NXT back, this could be considered a way to buy large volumes at 5k satoshis without slippage.

Anyway.

CNY withdrawals have apparently been enabled, so there's some progress...

You can log on to the website and such. But there haven't been any withdrawals (you can view your balance) other than I believe CNY which just started up.

I just finished using Bter a few days prior to the incident so luckily had only 1600 NXT there.

That's just a meaningless form response. I've had the same for a stuck withdrawal.

Oy vey. What a mess for everone. I saw theres talk of selling the site to pay back the users, but seems liability would be concern for any new owner taking on the project.
