This is a great overall initiative, and I love the idea of Ludom's game. I've wanted to do something like this on top of Nxt for a long time, Kingdom of Loathing style or similar
Though I think EUR 500 is a lot - do you have a sense of the market?
Yes, I have a sense of the market. Creation and animation of such a game is my daily job. It's one of the principal task of Plaisir d'histoire (and my business is living right now a big development).
I don't give this price from nowhere, it corresponds to my normal price list. But you know, I'm Swiss and I live in one of the most expensive country in the world.
So... yes I can sold a good game for 500 € in Switzerland: companies, curious people, education programs...
But this price depend of my price for preparation of a game + an half day animation of a game = 300 €. It's look like very well paid but it's not so much if you have to : pay taxes and social fees. Because I'm a professional and I don't work in black.
But should I be the animator? Do you want to drive the games in English cheaper? No problem for me. The price is :
- Preparation and animation costs : 300
- Royalties to remunerate the investors (assets holders) : 150
- Royalties for the use of a "LARP program" : 50
If we find a skilled person who are ready to work for less, it's great. Some persons can be happy if they win 100 € for an half day of work (In Switzerland, it's impossible to live with that, but in other country, for sure yes).
I can train some other animators: in English, French, German and other languages.
If we find more advertisers and sponsoring, we need less investment and we can lower the Royalties.
If we lower the cost of the project, it's the same.
And if we find the funds for all the project, we can make it open source and free on the internet.
The budget is "an exemple" of the project if I have to do it alone (with my enterprise "Plaisir d'histoire"), without help. Only donations and investments.
It's the "version 0" of the project. Now we have to make it better, cheaper and more profitable.
