[TNSSE] The Future
« on: August 31, 2016, 07:25:59 pm »

Hello people

It's been almost a year for the TNSSE Project.

Almost a year ago, EvilDave and I started the following thread: https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/(marketing-business-and-development)-the-tennessee-project-fundraiser/

The express purpose of the TNSSE Project was to pull Nxt out of the slump that it was in at that time (a market cap of ~ 8 million and a daily volume of around 10 to 30k USD) by working to get our fundamental sites, SEO, PR and organisational basics together. You can see a full list of what we set out to do in the post above.

Thanks to many generous donators, we were given our mandate and budget and set to work. You can see most of our public work in this thread: https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/(tnnse)-tennessee-updates/

It's been a busy year and we've accomplished quite a lot, but not everything on our list.
We know there have been periods when people were wondering what the hell we were doing. That's part of how it works, however. Some things, like the Linux Foundation and Hyperledger affiliation take time and we have to let the larger partner take the lead. There are several other things like that that are still developing.

However, we also think Nxt (and Ardor) are again fully on the map. We now have a solid position here in Amsterdam and are talking to government and major players as a matter of course. We would like to use that base to also solidify this in other countries if we can find hard working people who want to take on that responsibility. There is a lot to do.

However, this brings us to the financial situation. At the moment, we still have reserves, so we can keep moving for the coming months. We are also very actively pursuing outside sources of income and support which we seriously hope will pay off.

At this moment, before things become more tough, we would like to hear your opinion on our performance and how you see the future. We feel this is important and right to do.

Dave will also chip in somewhere in this thread, of course. And more news and good stuff will follow :)

So, please give us your voice.

Hi, Nxt dudes and dudettes:

First off: I'd like to thank everyone who supported TNSSE, in whatever way, whether with funding, work/time, or simply moral support.
Thanks, couldn't have got so far without all of you. We've taken Nxt a long way over the last year, since TNSSE went live at the start of November 2015.

But we need to make some decisions soon about our plans for the next year, so:
do you lot (ie the Nxt community/investors/volunteers/interested bystanders) want us to continue with a second year of the Tennessee Project ?

This isn't (yet) a discussion about fundraising, so let's leave that to one side, and concentrate on what TNSSE has achieved so far, and could do in a second year.
How do you think we've done over the last 10 months ? Any ideas about what we could have done better ?

I am behind you both 100%.  Damelon, you are working full time on NXT/Ardor and have done a great job.  I am very optimistic about NXT and the future of blockchain tech.  Good job guys.

Very many thanks to you guys, I know how much time TNSSE has cost you both. Pretty amazing you didn't burned out, so many late hours and days working to make Nxt bigger! Respect!  :)

So, sure you can continue to work on Tennessee if it's my choice.

Putting Nxt/Ardor on the map internationally if very important. We need a Bas and Dave in every country!  ;D

Hi Guys,

I am too young (NXT age) to know how this project got started and under what conditions. However I can say that I love this community and what it has acomplished. However is hard for me to ignore the 2 year Bear market that has kept NXT out of the Altcoin picture when compared to other cryptos like Ethereum, DASH, Steem, and others.

That said I think the fundraiser could have been too little to the titanic task to endure. I would have expected a budget around 5 to 10 million dollars, to be able to achieve such gold.

At the same time one of the things that I appreciate is that the community is so small. Really a lot of innovation everywhere but at the same time, the core is very small. For a 3 year project I would have expect this foundation and structure to have grown into at least 50-100 people at the core. Again I am too young to judge and not sure if the core has grown or shrink in the past 1.5 years.

I think there should be some structure that the community will have to endure specially on recruiting developers setting a more proper structure for a larger foundation. Getting more corporate sponsorship or at least setting up a DAO-like at the core to distribute the budget, across whoever that want to make the organization better.

Of course for that, we would need to gain more and better defined income protocols.

I think Ardor is fantastic and incredibly innovative, but I really wish that innovation can be rewarded, not only by the market but by a self-sustainable mechanism of capitalizing from the innovation and push it back into the recruit of innovative people, coders, marketers, writers, educators, and such.

Hope there are more people on the boat next year and that NXT / Ardor can grow exponentially not only in currency value but also in community organization and innovation.

Hi guys,

thanks for making TNSSE a success story. I know that it was not only hard work but you had to stand some "shakeout" in the community! I like that you have a vision for Nxt/Ardor and kept the direction despite all fud. Thumbs up from me and keep it going!

I'm sure further funding won't be an issue. If you run dry, do another funding round. A lot of community members owe you the ongoing rise of NXT and will happily donate for TNSSE!  ;D

Hey!!

For me is crucial to have a spokeperson where business can go to ask questions and so on. I mean a physical one, outside this forum.

I really hope that some of the firms you are in contact could consider a form of sponsorhip to keep you going  ;)

I not only think that you made a great job, but that for the Nxt community there is no realistic alternative to you guys. After the devs you are the most valuable asset of the Nxt community.

For the future I would love to see Damelon acting more like the CEO of Nxt. Nxt is a DAO anyway, because in the end it's forgers who vote. But the DAO can only succeed when we have hierarchical organisation and centralized marketing. I think many of those left in this community realize this. IMO you guys are a bit too modest and nice. You should ask at least for 50 million NXT. TNSSE needs a couple of million dollars to market Nxt/Ardor more aggressively, hire more people etc. If it doesnt work with donations, hold back enough FNX to get real (millions of dollar range) funding for marketing efforts. You should get 5k dollars per months each, at least, to get even more motivated to bring Nxt forward. We all should think much bigger and become more professional in all ways. This is not a social movement anymore, but a DAO with investors/forgers who want future dividends in ARDR that have a nice fiat value. If we cant get this done, Nxt wont exist anymore in 5 years.

I liked the presentations of Dave more than those of Damelon. But I think Damelon is an excellent interview partner. I would love to see him talking more about Nxt/Ardor in interviews. This is his real strength: Presenting Nxt in public. He should be much more present in public. If people behave stupid, tell them they are stupid. No need to be arrogant, but we need more self-esteem. More Steve Jobs attitude, less nice guy happy to be part of this. What you do behind the scenes I dont know and therefore cannot judge. But real businesses making real use of Nxt/Ardor is the primary goal we should strive for. Glad we left replacing the dollar behind us.

Maybe get Marc de Mesel on board: EvilDave's working ethics, Damelon's mind and Marc's enthousiasm would be the perfect mixture  ;D
Also new talent like marenkar should be supported and much more involved.

And I wish to be much better informed about what your plans for Nxt are. What is your vision, what are you concretely doing to achieve it, how can businesses make use of Ardor. All this has to be pointed out much more transparent and concrete way.

A more modern redesign of the client would also be nice.

Hi  :D

Damelon  ??? EvilDave  ???
what hell is this ? a trap question?  ;D ;D ;D

NXT and Ardor need more initiatives like TNSSE and the NXT Foundation not less... this 2 organizations are the voice and the image of NXT/Ardor and not something that we can just shutdown or let them die.

as i said before in the 5M bounty topic... money is here and will be used as promotional investment... in my opinion the best long term investment is TNSSE and the NXT Foundation...

the NXT Community have the moral obligation to support and help financially those organization because is like a collective advertising where the returns are profitable for all the ecosystem.

Thank you all and @++
