Looking great, nice job Farl4bit!

I know you said this is work in progress, the 'for business' section is crying out for a use case.

Sure that is nothing you have not thought of already :-).

Doing some updates on the site, including adding articles under "News" :)

Quick question: is the following menu easy to find or did any of you miss it?

Site looks great even on an Android phone. Good job everyone.

Few comments:
1. http://nxt.org/get-started/for-you/ - Change "Download for Apple" to "Download for Mac" and move it to be the last option since it's the least commonly used and has the worst support at the moment.

2. http://nxt.org/demo/ - Add additional step to the instructions:
"Log in using the Nxt Account number: Click on the "Returning User?" button then use the following account number NXT-BNZB-9V8M-XRPW-3S3WD (You can simply copy and paste the Account number into the log-in field)

3. http://nxt.org/what-is-nxt/ - regarding the definition of a blockchain, the current text "... This is the sequence of data-containing blocks that contain all of the information about the entire history of Nxt, including accounts, transactions, messages……everything.", is a bit superficial, why not use a more formal definition from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Block_chain_(database), something like: "blockchain is a permissionless distributed database based on the NXT software that maintains a continuously growing list of data records hardened against tampering and revision"

4. http://nxt.org/download/ - Again change "Download for Apple" to "Download for Mac". Also I don't think its a good idea to post a reference to a specific version and hash on this site since (1) You'll need to update it with each new release (2) This is a high reputation, low security site. Someone can hack it and replace the hash code and links to point to her own malicious version.

5. The 32 bit instructions http://nxt.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Win32_Nxt_Startersguide.pdf does not document the fact that you need to install Java 32 bit first, at least mention is as a pre-requisite. In fact even on a Windows 64 bit machine you can still use Java 32 bit but I'm not sure we should get into this resolution. Note that 64 bit installers (exe and dmg) already distribute Java so there is no need to change the 64 instructions.

6. Need to add favicon.ico file to the root of the web site so that the site has icon on the browser tab. You can simply use the file /html/ui/favicon.ico file from the nxt distribution.

7. Would be nice to have an Https certificate for this web site. Like the competition https://bitshares.org/ and https://ethereum.org/

Riker: good feedback.

Site looks great even on an Android phone. Good job everyone.

Few comments:
1. http://nxt.org/get-started/for-you/ - Change "Download for Apple" to "Download for Mac" and move it to be the last option since it's the least commonly used and has the worst support at the moment.

Yes, makes complete sense.

2. http://nxt.org/demo/ - Add additional step to the instructions:
"Log in using the Nxt Account number: Click on the "Returning User?" button then use the following account number NXT-BNZB-9V8M-XRPW-3S3WD (You can simply copy and paste the Account number into the log-in field)

Again, yes. I did this bit, and completely overlooked this step. Will edit.

3. http://nxt.org/what-is-nxt/ - regarding the definition of a blockchain, the current text "...

Er...I'm going to say "hmm" to this, R. It is a superficial explanation, no argument there, but we need to explain stuff to non-crypto people in a simple way.
Your definition would certainly work for tech types, but I'm not sure if it works for the mainstream...

4. http://nxt.org/download/ - Again change "Download for Apple" to "Download for Mac". Also I don't think its a good idea to post a reference to a specific version and hash on this site since (1) You'll need to update it with each new release (2) This is a high reputation, low security site. Someone can hack it and replace the hash code and links to point to her own malicious version.

Yes.....I think we should include information somewhere about hash checking and general security....not not sure where, tbh.
Should we maybe put up a general site page on best security practices, or include it in the guides ?

5. The 32 bit instructions http://nxt.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Win32_Nxt_Startersguide.pdf does not document the fact that you need to install Java 32 bit first, at least mention is as a pre-requisite. Note that 64 bit installers (exe and dmg) already distribute Java so there is no need to change the 64 instructions.

Yep....

6. Need to add favicon.ico file to the root of the web site so that the site has icon on the browser tab. You can simply use the file /html/ui/favicon.ico file from the nxt distribution.

Thats for Farl, but yes.

7. Would be nice to have an Https certificate for this web site. Like the competition https://bitshares.org/ and https://ethereum.org/

Seem to remember we discussed this a few months ago, and decided that Nxt.org didn't need SSL.....there ís no sensitive user data to be protected.
On the other hand, it won't hurt.......what does everyone else think ?

http://nxt.org/get-started/professionals/

Double "for"
"... widely applicable for for many other use cases ..."

And double "from"
"... can benefit from from using an Nxt blockchain solution."

Phrasing: "the Nxt developer team" --> "the Nxt development team"

Please add commas in sections I - ... - VI and note that VI appears twice.

Phrasing:
"They will be happy to advise you on how best the Nxt platform can be integrated into your business."
Perhaps
"They will be happy to advise you how to integrate the Nxt platform into your business."

http://nxt.org/get-started/developers/

Both the "Network Stats" and "Network Status" links point to http://peerexplorer.com/
I believe one of them should point to one of the block explorers.

The new site is looking really good.  Awesome work guys!   :)

+1 on bumping Poloniex to the top, and I'd like to suggest replacing Bter with Shapeshift.io.  I don't think it's wise to suggest Bter after the multiple thefts/"hacks"/deposit & withdrawal delays and the fact that they held Nxt users balances hostage after their own security failures.

There is sensitive data, the download links and the sha256 checksums. Without SSL, an attacker that your traffic goes through, such as your ISP, or Tor exit node when using Tor, can modify the links and the checksums at the same time.

How about using LetsEncrypt.org for a free certificate? Heard of them recently, don't know how it works.

See for example how the Tor Browser download page has unobtrusive "sig" and "what is this" links for the GPG signatures of their downloads, https://www.torproject.org/download/download-easy.html.en . Maybe those can open in a pop-up so that the user stays on the same page.

On the new nxt.org site shouldn't Shapeshift be mentioned also under the buy Nxt section...

Yes to kicking BTER and putting Polo at the top. They are usually our main market.
Shapeshift needs to go in, for sure. We've concentrated on core content so far, and that is looking good.
So, the next step is getting links/news/press/community stuff all sorted out.

Further suggestions are welcome.......and we'll put an SSL cert on the shopping list, I guess.

Facebook is a bit of a neglected group.

I am more than happy to add people to it as admins provided they will maintain it properly and can provide me with some form of reference.

We maintain the right to refuse applications, but it would be great if it could be ran a bit more efficiently. :)

Next to the Shapeshift link you could also have in brackets or something the words "Shapeshift is also integrated into the wallet you start a new account", since this option presents itself inside the client.

Maybe something tidier than I typed above. You get the idea.

Edit: I've just manually looked at the "exchange" tab in the client, which brings Shapeshift up, and there are no transfer offers. Is Shapeshift still working inside the client?

ShapeShift not working at the moment https://shapeshift.io/marketinfo/nxt_btc returns "{"error":"That pair is temporarily unavailable for trades."}" seems to be a re-occurring issue especially over the weekend.

We can consider adding a "Powered By" page, with a list of all open source software we are using - H2, Jetty, Lucene, BouncyCastle, and so on (see the 3-rd party libraries list). As a thank you to those projects, to put Nxt in the context of those other open source projects it is relying on, and to emphasize that nothing in our download package, including the libraries, is closed source and potentially untrusted.

The Oracle JDK is still the big exception, however OpenJDK 8 seems to run fine now, except that it has worse performance on some platforms. But on platforms where Oracle java is not available, it is the only choice.

Speaking of which, instead of just Linux we can say "Linux and others" on the download page, because the zip package can be used on any platform which has Java 8 available. I have been running it successfully on FreeBSD for some time, and my node is on DragonFlyBSD now (using UFS instead of Hammer though), so the BSDs should be considered a supported platform, at least those of them with up to date openjdk8.
