Do you even Stake, bro?
« on: July 26, 2014, 09:57:57 am »

I don't even bother with this because I turn of my computer regularly and have so many wallets that's it's a pain in the ass, but I'm thinking maybe it would be worth it.

What's your opinion on the whole Staking thing?

Hm, someone should invent something where you can lend your stake to someone who runs a node. Let's call it lended staking :D

I would forge if I could get Nxt working on my pi.  I'm going to give it another try.

@digicoiner I don't know what the problem is, but sometimes you need to killall java under Linux.

I use an Amazon Web Services node for forging. I set up a Nxt account for the purpose, and all my other accounts lease to that one. The AWS node is actually a free trial, so it's not costing me much at the moment. Other cloud providers are available.

Whether it's "worth it" depends on what you think is worth while. I don't make money from forging. Few do. I'm doing it partly to learn, and partly to support the network. I run the AWS as a hallmarked public node. I've only forged two blocks so far, but it turns out 50k NXT is enough to get me in the top-ten public nodes on Nxt Explorer, so there's that.

I followed the instructions "NRS Client How to & Help" section and I still get "The server refused the connection." when I try to access it from my remote pc.  I am running my pi headless - no monitor.  Can you help?

It seems you need to unlock that remote PC:

Add your remote PC to nxt.allowedBotHosts in the conf/nxt.properties file.

https:nodepi:7876

I've edited the nxt-default.properties file in /home/pi/nxt according to the instructions that's supposed to allow remote access.

As I said, please use the nxt.properties file. Do not edit the default file as it will be overwritten by an update.

The URL should be http://raspberrypi:7876/

You need to install a server certificate if you want to use https.
