There may not be fundamental problems, but it is not a small amount of work. And to be done right, should also cover MS coins. And all performance consequences from having extra columns and indexes on ask/bid order tables and others tested and resolved. And the UI adapted, this is as much work as on the server side if not more.
I don't have the time to work on this myself, as I consider 2.0 more important.

Could another dev could work on this? Maybe not actual devs, but someone new.
Or even Kushti wanted to do Nxt AE 2.0, but I fear he drops this projet (I can't talk for him tho)

I suggest you to make a detailed description with use cases of every 2.0 feature to check it independently and discuss if they are viable and properly designed. It is always better to improve the idea or drop it entirely before starting to code.

so is this discussion over? if jean luc is working on 2.0 maybe we should look at others making asset/asset trading happen. we could pledge some funds.
from my layman perspective verymuchso seems like a good person to talk to.

Do we have this feature somewhere on the roadmap? Do we have an option to have this task implemented by the 3td party dev? Will this feature be accepted in the main codebase if implemented by outsource dev?

@ Jean-Luc
Could you please answer blackyblack's questions?

i think there are more people who would like to see asset/asset trading. taking this to a private discussion doesn't make sense.
i'm personally not depending on it and i'm long over the frustration of being ignored :)

I need asset - asset - currency - names - etc. trade!!! - all to all!!!

why only NXT to currency? why not a asset to currency?

Quote from: CORE Media link=http://coremedia.info/index.php/nxt-news/item/210-quack-decentralized-escrow-on-the-nxt-blockchain
the core NXT developers do plan to add asset-to-asset trading functionality to the core client in the future
- does anybody have a proof of this statement?

Riker, Jean-Luc etc

Why not just opt for total modularity and let the service software decide the pairing? This means you could also set up a market for MS-Currency/Asset.

Platforms need to be really, really modular. The more modular they are, the more complicated they are. The more complicated, the more people just go for easier solutions :)

At any rate, increased modularity should increase adoption due to wider application possiblities.

You can refactor away some stuff (like the MS exchange and other static pairings) and use a single class of market pairing code. Less lines to hide bugs in.

Tradepairs without NXT could be penalised by higher fees. It's a convenience, after all.

Obviously, we should talk to economics pros before actually implementing any of this. We want our NXT investments to become worth a lot.
