Does "using native Java sockets and binary messages between peers" mean that non-Java implementations will be significantly harder? Or would the meaning remain if the word "Java" was replaced by "network" or dropped entirely?
'Native java sockets' means using network sockets instead of going through Jetty.  JSON messages consist of printable strings while binary messages consist of the just the data bytes.  It should make non-Java implementations easier since the HTTP/Websocket layer is removed and JSON string parsing is eliminated.
Good.

Once testnet is out and initial bugfixing is done, we will focus on the work on pruning and snapshot propagation. We must be confident that the current 2.0 implementation will allow pruning to be enabled without restarting the blockchain, before main net is launched, and a few months after that pruning and snapshots download should also be ready.
Thanks, that sounds reassuring.

How can I use Ardor as private blockchain?

You will be able to create a child chain with your token as currency of this chain. Your child chain tokens will need to have value to pay bundlers. Bundlers are middlemen who pay forgers to add records of your child chain transactions to the Ardor chain. Forgers secure the whole thing forging with their stakes. You can be a bundler for your own child chain if you have Ardor tokens to pay forgers, then your tokens may have little to no value as long as you can afford paying fees with Ardor tokens to forgers. If you have Ardor tokens you can also be a forger at the same time.

Hi guys, I was wondering what's the value proposition in Ardor tokens? In NXT, NXT was the basic unit of value in all transactions, but what creates the demand for Ardor?

Securing all child chains with Ardor by forging (Main chain) and collecting child chain bundler fees, that bundled the transactions of the child chain that need to be secured by the main chain (bundlers collect child chain fees and pay ARDR to forger)

Hi everyone, it's been a long time! Really happy to see Nxt moving forward as a platform.

Sorry about resurrecting an old thread, but this seems like the best place to discuss this. On Ardor, will Asset names be unique? Including across all child chains that allow their issued assets to be globally transferable. During the initial JINN auction there were scam assets that used the JINN name, and now there are also shenanigans with JLRDA. Ardor is a chance to start fresh and prevent this kind of deception. I imagine confusion will only grow once there are lots of active child chains.
