Announcing Nxt 2.0 Roadmap
« on: May 23, 2016, 06:08:56 pm »

Roadmap of Nxt 2.0

Edit: FXT has been named Ardor! More info here: https://nxtforum.org/core-development-announcements/(ann)-ardor-or-nxt-2-0-a-scalable-child-chain-platform/

Announcing Ardor (Nxt 2.0), the successor to the pioneering Nxt platform, which has been an inspiration for many other successful blockchain projects.

Ardor builds on the experience we have gained from running Nxt 1.0 in production for over two and a half years, and aims to solve real world problems of scalability, privacy, currency liquidity and usability.

Ardor retains all the core features of the first version of the Nxt Blockchain, but builds and expands on Nxt 1.0 by adding secure and scalable child chains. This new flexible architecture allows users to create their own blockchains, customised to fit their needs, while drawing security from the collective ecosystem of the global Ardor platform.

Ardor is being built by a very experienced and professional developer team. The same team that built the first true Proof of Stake system, that implemented the first decentralised token trading system, the first and only fully decentralised coin shuffling implementation among many other groundbreaking features for cyryprocurrency/blockchain.

The Nxt core team has been consistently innovative since the original Nxt launch back in 2013, and many Nxt innovations have been incorporated into other projects.

The initial research phase of Ardor has passed. Pooling their experience of working on Nxt 1.0 for over two years, Core devs Jean-Luc, Riker, ScripterRon and Petko have already started the first phase of coding for Ardor.
Coding Ardor will take time. The Core Team does not want to launch an overhyped and half-finished system, but wants to make sure the new platform holds up to the high standards you have come to expect from Nxt 1.0. We consider this  to be the de-facto reference standard of stability and performance that a blockchain platform should adhere to.

Initial coding has started a few weeks ago and is expected to take at least the rest of 2016.

Testnet
At the time of writing, the Core Team aims to launch the first version of the Ardor Testnet very early in 2017. During the Testnet phase of the software, there will be many rewrites and tweaks based on user feedback and continuous use of the platform. The Testnet phase will last for at least six months to make absolutely sure the first live version will be safe and trustworthy at launch.

Mainnet
At the time of writing, it is estimated that the first live version of Ardor will launch in Q3 of 2017.

More details on the implementation cycle can be found in this thread. (Document also available for download HERE)

Ardor will retain ALL Features of the Nxt 1.0 platform.

Below you will find an outline on how each current feature will be ported to the new FNX Child Chain at launch.

Account Numbers
Account numbers are preserved. Since the mapping from secret phrase, to public key, to account id will not change, your 1.0 pass phrase will correspond to the account with the exact same number on Ardor. Existing 1.0 users will be able to login to Ardor with their existing passphrase.
The Account table will be global, and each account can have balances in any of the Child Chain tokens, as well as in Ardor.

Assets
Existing Nxt 1.0 Assets or Asset Transaction History will NOT be ported directly to the FNX Child Chain.
Since the Nxt 1.0 blockchain will continue to exist, the Core Team believes it is better to leave the choice of when and how to move to Nxt 2.0 in the hands of the Asset Issuers themselves.
This is probably best done by burning existing Assets, requiring them to be sent to the issuer account in order to issue new Nxt 2.0 Assets in exchange. Or it could be done by each asset issuer declaring a height at which they will take a snapshot of 1.0 asset balances, and then re-distributing those on Ardor.
Assets will be universal on Ardor, which means that for any Asset, regardless on which Child Chain it was originally issued, any Child Chain that will allow its trade will be able to trade it.

MS Currencies
MS Currencies themselves are also universal, and will be possible to trade on any Child Chain. MS Currency names and codes existing in Nxt 1.0 WILL be ported to the FNX Child Chain, including the currency balances for all accounts. Their transaction history will not be.
The Core Team will provide support to any MS currencies that want to transition to a Child Chain, i.e. start a Child Chain with a token distribution based on this MS currency.
MS Currency names and codes will be unique within Child Chains only. This will eliminate the possibility of name squatting across chains. The proposed format for MS Currency names will be CURRENCYNAMECODE.CHILDCHAINCODE, for instance ELEMS.FNX.

Arbitrary Messages
No Messages will be ported from 1.0 to Ardor

Tagged Data
No Tagged Data will be ported from 1.0 to Ardor

Digital Goods
No products or sales will be ported from 1.0 to Ardor

Aliases
Existing 1.0 Nxt Aliases will be ported to the FNX Child Chain. Just like with MS Currency names and codes, alias names will be unique within their Child Chain only. Globally, aliases will be appended with a Child Chain suffix, to signify which chain they belong to. By default, alias name not appended with a Child Chain suffix will be assumed to belong to the FNX Child Chain.

Voting
Voting will be available on each Child Chain.
Open or finished Polls will NOT be ported to the Ardor chain. Running polls will need to finish on the Nxt 1.0 chain.

Phasing
Phasing will be available on each side chain.
Current Account Control Setting will NOT be ported to the new FNX Child Chain.

Leasing
Account Leasing will be retained, but on the FXT Main Chain only, as only FXT balances are used to provide blockchain security (forge). Existing 1.0 Leases will not be transferred but will have to be recreated.

Plugins
Ardor will support Plugins, but existing Plugins will need fixes to work with the new Ardor platform.

What will happen to 1.0?

The Nxt Core Devs are committed to providing support, bug fixes and any possible emergency updates for the Nxt 1.0 chain.
It will not be necessary to burn your 1.0 coins to receive Ardor tokens, and you are free to trade your Ardor Tokens which you will receive after the snapshot period has ended.

The Core Team wants to make migrations to Ardor as easy as possible, so is allowing a wide window for making this move.
In short, nothing will change for Nxt 1.0, except that active work on new features will come to a halt. The platform will be actively maintained, so users will still benefit from a secure and well-kept platform.
The Core Team will also provide help and support for users that wish to move their enterprises from Nxt 1.0 to Ardor.

Ardor’s prime innovation is to split the blockchain into a main chain that is used for consensus creation only, and multiple child chains that keep separate ledgers of transactions, each child chain using its own coin/token..

This means that there will initially be two distributions of tokens: one for the main chain token (Ardor), and one for the token for the first child chain to be launched (for now called FNX).

The Core Developers recognise the tremendous contributions of the investors and holders of the original Nxt 1.0, without whom Ardor would not be possible, and have decided to grant them exclusive rights to these new tokens.

It is important to note that Ardor does not mean Nxt 1.0 will cease to exist! The Core Team is committed to continue providing support to Nxt 1.0 for at least one year after the Ardor launch, and possibly further.

There will be no burning of Nxt 1.0 needed in order to receive either Ardor or FNX Tokens.

Distribution:

Ardor (Main Chain Tokens)
All NXT holders are eligible to receive Ardor Tokens at launch of the Mainnet.
Shortly after the release of Nxt 1.9, (intended to be the last major release on the Nxt 1.0 branch) the Nxt Software will start taking periodic snapshots of all users' NXT balances, at regular intervals (most likely once an hour), for a period of three months.
The NXT balances in each account will be averaged over this full three month period, and at the end all accounts will be automatically credited with a token representing their Ardor holdings, issued as an Asset on the Nxt asset exchange.
This Ardor Asset will be freely tradeable.
The distribution of the real Ardor coins (to be done at the launch of the Ardor Mainnet in Q3 2017) will be based on the ownership of Ardor Assets on the 1.9 blockchain, taken at the point of time when the Ardor Genesis block is created, shortly before that launch.

FNX (Transaction Tokens for the FNX Child Chain)
The distribution of the FNX Token will be based on each account’s NXT holdings at the time of the Ardor Genesis block creation.
At the time of writing, the Core Devs have decided to credit 50% of these holdings to each new FNX Account, while reserving 50% of FNX for funding of the development team, business development and other operations that will need funding to make the Ardor project a success.
The Core Devs acknowledge that not including this step in the distribution of 2013 was a mistake in the first place, which has left the project chronically underfunded. As a donation based model is not sustainable, they decided to opt for the allocation of 50% for project development and sustainability.

Why is this difference? Internally both MS and Assets are the same thing. Why have you decided to not port assets?

Do I understand it right that multisig accounts are no longer multisig on the FNX chain?

Well it's 50% dilution but I can live with it.

Thank you for a much needed update :)

And it's good to read that development funds will be secured. I remember I did suggest somewhere to do a 50% split in the main chain token, but preserving a 1:1 distribution on the main chain and reserving from the transactional token is a better solution.

Great roadmap, it's going to be a bumpy ride until then, but when you see what NXT has delivered in the past this release will be epic. Can we maintain an auditable use of FNX coins to boost confidence? I believe transparency pairs with financial compensation in a good way, please keep this in mind.

At this price it's a cheap IPO when you compare to the lisk IPO prices !

Thanks a lot for the detailed roadmap! I firmly believe Nxt has a good chance of competing in the whitelabel blockchain market after reading both threads, the proposal sounds absolutely achievable.

Looking forward to hearing updates from the dev team regarding the ongoing development  :)

It also sounds like multi-sig accounts won't be possible at all on the FXT chain.

Phasing will be possible on the child chains.
Whether it's possible on the FXT chain remains to be seen. (This is how I understood it)
Perhaps Jean Luc can lean in on this.

Yes, but it sounds like the settings won't be ported, so a NXT 1.0 multi-sig account will become a single-sig FNX account, until its owner sets it up as multi-sig again. This means the other signatories have to trust the owner to actually do that. I don't know if this is a real issue or just an academic one, but it does sound like a loophole in multi-sig security.

Can I just say how much I hate the names "FXT" and "FNX"? I find it very hard to remember which is which. Is there a trick to it? Do the letters mean something?

They are placeholders.
No meaning is attached to them other than to distinguish between tokens for now.

Personally, I am still all for a rebrand at 2.0.

WOW 8)
Thanks.

Two questions about the distribution ratio:
1)   NXT:FXT=1:1
2)   NXT:FNX=1:0.5

Right?

Right?

Better to describe it as:

NXT:FXT Asset=1:1 (tradeable before launch)
NXT:FNX=1:0.5

The fact that people can trade their FXT Assets is important.

Please pardon an ignorant question but fairly recently crossed over into the nxt world and still a bit behind the curve.
What do the terms 'nxt holdings' and 'nxt balances' mean: NXT coins only, the account's nav, or something else ?

Ok, interesting stuff.
I'm intrigued about the step of funding development with the transactional token, the child chain token (and yes, please can we rebrand and find some different names for these?!). This was the token that people argued would be badly devalued by 2.0. What's the thinking here?

Great News! Finally NXT platform is heading to partitioning and scalability.
Dan Highes has designed eMunie with 1024 partitions, Vitalik Buterin is talking about implementing sharding to Ethereum and now NXT is reinventing itself by offering sidechains to improve scalability.
I wish a lot of success to dev team and hope NXT will attract a lot users and businesses.

Nothing against WAVES I wish them success but now they look to me as one NXT sidechain gone rogue.  :)
Sorry coinomat nothing personal.

MS Currency names and codes existing in Nxt 1.0 WILL be ported to the FNX Child Chain

Existing Nxt 1.0 Assets or Asset Transaction History will NOT be ported directly to the FNX Child Chain.
Why is this difference? Internally both MS and Assets are the same thing. Why have you decided to not port assets?
The key thing here is that we are talking about assets getting cloned, because the Nxt 1.0 block-chain is (as I understand it) going to be left untouched. Nothing on Nxt 1.0 will be burned or forcibly moved to 2.0. So, some assets represent IOUs and there's no point cloning them if nobody backs them. For example, cloning a Nxt 1.0 asset backed by a weight of silver won't clone the silver. Same with the digital goods store.

This doesn't explain why MS currencies are being cloned; perhaps they just don't represent IOUs in the same way. Or perhaps they are just being treated on a par with NXT, and because NXT get cloned to FNX, MS coins get cloned too.

they decided to opt for the allocation of 50% for project development and sustainability.
Well it's 50% dilution but I can live with it.
It's complicated. It's 50% of the transactional token, so some smaller fraction of the total (forging + transactional) value of your NXT 1.0 depending on how much the forging power is worth. And it sounds like NXT 1.0 will continue running indefinitely, with nothing getting forcibly burnt on it, so arguably the 50% of FNX being held back is actually only 1/6th of the total number of coins (NXT + FXT + FNX) that we will end up with, and perhaps 1/8th of the value.

Nxt 2.0 is looking more like a new alt-coin that will co-exist with and compete with Nxt, rather than an evolution of Nxt. Since Nxt 1.0 will continue, you arguably aren't getting diluted at all. The new alt-coin doesn't owe you anything because it is new.

I've no idea how this is going to work out. With neither Assets nor Digital Goods being transferred by default, I wonder whether all the activity (such as it is) will remain with Nxt 1.0, and 2.0 will go the way of most new alt-coins. That its initial distribution is taken from Nxt 1.0 will not be seen as a good thing by outsiders.

And it's good to read that development funds will be secured. I remember I did suggest somewhere to do a 50% split in the main chain token, but preserving a 1:1 distribution on the main chain and reserving from the transactional token is a better solution.
Presumably reserving 50% of the main token would be a security/trust issue in that whoever held on to them could use them to launch a 50% attack. Owning over 50% of the transactional token has fewer, if any, security implications.

MS Currency names are unique, whereas Asset names are not.
This has to be preserved for this reason, which is why they move to the new child chain, where they also will be unique.
By the same reasoning, Aliases are moved, too.

It hardly explains anything. Why non unique names cannot be ported? Why assets are global and MS are not.
It looks like an arbitrary decision what to do global and what to port.

All NXT holders are eligible to receive FXT Tokens at launch of the Mainnet.
Shortly after the release of Nxt 1.9, (intended to be the last major release on the Nxt 1.0 branch) the Nxt Software will start taking periodic snapshots of all users' NXT balances, at regular intervals (most likely once an hour), for a period of three months.
The NXT balances in each account will be averaged over this full three month period

I am curious how this will be rolled out.
If I keep NXT in my account for 3 months and sell everything on the last day of the snapshot period, I'm still eligible to receive FXT?

You could also receive FXT with a single time snapshot and dump all your NXT right afterwards, there's hardly a way to prevent people taking advantage of/abusing timing.

I guess my real question then what is the advantage of this averaging over three months to a one time snapshot of balances on a set date.

Jeez, that sounds like a major headache. ... So there will be then three currencies I have to keep track of?
And then wouldn't everyone dump their oldNXT as soon as the snapshot is done? Because surely the idea is that the new NXT takes over the old one.

And why is the "snapshot averaging" done for FXT but not FNT of the currencies? Why not do it the same for both?

I assume FXT is somehow for doing transfers and value keeping? And FNT just for forging stuff? How will each of them retain value? Why shouldn't people just decide to use FNT like they used NXT?

It will take me quite some time to wrap my head around this. But it's good that NXT takes these steps forward - in line with the original ideas BCNext laid out. Standing still isn't an option. Respect for the plan, and good luck!

(I'm personally a fan of the name NXT though)

An average should get a better estimate of who is actually forging. A snapshot could accidentally grab a lot of NXT in a transit account that never forged a block.

Yes. Good old NXT running on 1.9 network. FXT - forging token. FNX - NXT 2.0 token.

And then wouldn't everyone dump their oldNXT as soon as the snapshot is done? Because surely the idea is that the new NXT takes over the old one.
Averaging would prevent from instant dump because some people would dump during averaging period. And someone can decide that 1.0 is more viable than 2.0 and preserve NXT tokens.

I assume FXT is somehow for doing transfers and value keeping? And FNT just for forging stuff? How will each of them retain value? Why shouldn't people just decide to use FNT like they used NXT?
No. FXT for forging. FNX for everything else. Using FXT for transfers is very expensive. Asset exchange and other cool features are not available for FXT as well.

Has Allwelder published it on her Asian sites?

Do we know more platforms where we can promote it?

I have the idea that most forums and news sites are infested by Ethereum lovers and they don't like to have Nxt on them.

Thanks for the answers blackyblack.
What I was wondering about are the incentives. With NXT it's very clear: Everyone who owns the currency, wants to make sure the forging is done right and the currency keeps value.
The split then creates a Bitcoin-like situation. Isn't that exactly what NXT wanted to get away from? The holder of the currencyNXT2 might care about the forgingNXT a bit... but with differences. forgingNXT2 owners don't really care much about about currencyNXT2. They support it in an more indirect way.
Does one of these currencies have more 'political' power? Is voting about tech aspects for example done on forgingNXT2? If so, is it not worrisome that the developers have 50%?

This might technically be a great change. But is the incentive part all figured out as well?

Impact on the economical and security stability of the NXT may be enormous. But it is decided already. We can stay on NXT 1.0 to be sure though.

Developers have 50% of FNX. FXT is 100% distributed. FXT definitely has more political power since it is a mother chain and FXT holders decide what to include in it.

As I understand it, the main forging FXT chain will not support voting transactions, but the FNX child chain will support vote-by-FXT-balance. So we will have vote by forging power, and I assume such votes will help decide technical policy. All the FXT will be distributed. For the devs to hold 50% of FXT (ie, 50% of forging power) would be a problem for security even without voting, because they could use it to launch a 50% attack. They will reserve 50% of FNX, but that doesn't have the same security/trust implications.

It's certainly possible that some people will have lots of FXT and no FNX, in which case they'll have forging power without necessarily caring about the transactional coin. When we have many child coins, they might own those instead, and want to promote them over FNX. Hopefully this competition will be healthy.

Unlike Bitcoin, there will be no block-reward, so there's no big incentive to produce empty blocks. Forger's income will surely depend on people using one or other of the child-chains, so they do have incentive to keep at least one of them healthy. Also unlike Bitcoin, forging doesn't require a massive investment in hashpower that will quickly be made obsolete by Moore's Law. Hopefully that will give Nxt 2.0 forgers a longer-term outlook than Bitcoin miners.

I can certainly imagine a world in which, say, Russia has one child chain and America manages another, and each uses their forging power to cause problems for the other. (Or maybe it will be a Christian chain and a Muslim chain, or a Mafia chain and a Yakuza chain, or a Google chain and a Microsoft chain - replace with whichever power blocks you want.)

50% of FNX supply for devs is not a problem!

It is only like an asset, they may have 90% it will only have the value people want to give it to. As soon as some of us wake up to request a second childchain with all features that we may call NXT2 and distribute based on 1:1 with NXT1 or FXT, anyone will then make a political choice by deciding the relative value he gives to either token.
It is not a problem, but it feels very uncomfortable since it is the opposite of what the votes where about, I'm very surprised no one is talking about that. This tells that the temptation of money creation is so strong that even here, people get corrupted by it. Humans can not resist to that. The good thing is that there is built in flexibility. So, in the end, it may turned to be the perfect plan. Good work!

Anyone choose, and devs get some funds to work with anyway.

It is not corruption, but a great solution. Nobody gets expropriated, because 1.x will still be supported, and they get funding. You have no right to profit from devs work on 2.0 just because you own NXT 1.x tokens. So it is nice of them to give us 100% of forging and 50% of transactional token.

Agree, it's a very clever solution.

Probably shouldn't say anything but ... I hope you appreciate how weird that sounds to someone just coming into nxt and kicking the tires. I damn well do expect to have a 'right to profit' from the dev work on 2.0 'just because' i'm allocating real money to buying nxt 1.0.

Now you have that right, because they promised to grant it to 1.x hodlers. But they weren't obliged to grant it.

Or it could be done by each asset issuer declaring a height at which they will take a snapshot of 1.0 asset balances, and then re-distributing those on 2.0.
Assets will be universal on Nxt 2.0, which means that for any Asset, regardless on which Child Chain it was originally issued, any Child Chain that will allow its trade will be able to trade it.

I'm always thinking to newcomers because it is only about them, 100 or 1000 people now using Nxt is absolutely nothing. Only new comers can make Nxt something meaningfull. New comers can never accept a currency where half of it has been monopolized by 4 "hackers". A supposedly fixed supplied currency, half of it ! For them, this will just be a joke ! So I maintain that this is corruption of mentality that seriously endanger what has been doing on here from the start.

Be aware of what people like me will think.

Hopefully, the ingenuousity of the plan is that it let us room to recover.

It is up to us to bring back a clean set up by requesting another childchain to co-exists. But we have to re-group and ask. It is written everywhere that some mysterious secret businesses (no one except those who came up with the plan knows who they are and how serious there are) with absolutely no capacity to fund anything from scratch have been requesting this possibility.. why ? because they didn't want to buy some Nxt... :)) so I'm naïve enough to believe that early supporters with real Nxt funds can request the existence of a CLEAN childchain. Then, market forces will decide what this 50% will represent as a funding medium. Because otherwise, I will bet all I can, that the story will be very hard to digest for newcomers, and it is not difficult to know what the consequence of it will be.

Need to correct a few misunderstandings in this thread, and make some legal disclaimers.

The FXT token being issued on the 1.9 blockchain after the snapshot should not be called or considered an asset. It is not an investment, is not a share in a company, will never pay dividends (in fact the account used to issue it will be locked shortly after issuance), and ownership of this token does not carry any voting rights. All it gives you is the right to receive the corresponding number of FXT coins once Nxt 2.0 goes live.

While the opinion of FXT holders will always be considered, holding FXT does not carry any formal right to control the development process. Technical decisions will never be done by voting, as software engineering is not a democracy. The developers do not make any promises regarding the future value of FXT, or FNX. They are under no formal obligation to work towards increasing their value. Holding any of those tokens does not give you the right to profit from the developers work, as again, this is not an investment and you are not holding a share in a company.

The statement that the developers will reserve 50% of FNX for funding certainly does not mean that they will hold 50% of the FNX coins after the 2.0 launch. The exact amount of FNX to really retain as FNX will be decided later, the rest of those 50% will most likely be sold in an ICO manner (and not for NXT) just before the 2.0 launch, under conditions again to be decided later.

as i understand it you get tokens corresponding to the nxt you hold at snapshot date.

so if i own e.g. assets worth 1000 nxt on the asset exchange i wouldnt get any tokens for it?

Yes, but there will be more than one snapshot. There will be a snapshot period of about 3 months.

http://nxter.org/the-nxt-2-0-token-distribution/

NXT's which have been exchanged for goods or assets or have been sold @ exchanges will not get you any tokens, no.

it sounds like this is gonna be awesome. you guys have some amazing ideas and i really like that you try to consider all the feedback that came from nxt 1.0.

however after reading this thread and the other one i still have a few questions that i hope somebody can answer me:

whats the sense of the fxt snapshot phase? why dont you just give out the fxt on a set date according to nxt that are held in any account?
and how will the distrubiton of the fxt tokens after that phase work? for example lets assume i will buy 3000 nxt on 1/8/2016 create a new nxt account and put the coins there and i wont touch them until 30/9/2016. then i will get 2000 fxt since i had 3000 nxt on an account for two of the three months of the snapshot pahse? is that correct?

what will happen to nxt wallets that belong to the exchanges, especially to poloniex and btc38? have you talked to the guys? i mean there will for sure be a lot of nxt on their wallets during the three months of the snapshot phase and so they will get a lot of fxt for free?! can they keep them for their own or will they have to give them to the users that technically own the nxt?

did i understand that correctly that fxt will be used for forging the main blockchain and fnx will be kind of the token of a default child chain, which can be used for sending messages, creating aliases, trading at the assert exchange and anything else that has nothing to with forging?

i have a big concern here as well. recall the initial NXT distro with only 71 or so members and the disdain of the cryptocurrency community, especially when they realized they all missed out on a goldmine, as did I, by only 1 day :(  in fact.

i think the 2.0 chain will have much better distro, but the concern will be a "50% premine" of the child chain.

not to mention, IMO we most likely will effectively be killing NXT1.0 - while NXT1.0 will be "supported" for 1 year, this probably only includes bugfixes, wont include real/feature development

then there is the conspiracy side of me saying its a big plan to bust NXT out of the "initial 71" disdain by a reboot of sorts, with distro based on current NXT distro.  but im rambling now

it appears that one of the goals of 2.0 is to abstract forging and transactions, but what is the incentive to forge on the main chain?  and/or what is to prevent people from using the main chain (forging) tokens in a transactional manner, just ignoring your first child chain?

I think NXT1.0 asset can only trade on NXT1.0 unless you issue a new asset on NXT2.0,and NXT 2.0 assets can only trade on NXT2.0 unless you issue a new asset on NXT1.0.

When the snapshot ends, what exactly do our accounts receive? A new coin called Ardor or FNX or just an NXT 2.0 asset? Can we immediately trade this, or do we have to wait for NXT 2.0 to launch in 2017?

Snapshots run July 14th - October 12th.
On October 12th we receive asset ARDR, can immediately trade it.

Current Account Control Setting will NOT be ported to the new FNX Child Chain.
Do I understand it right that multisig accounts are no longer multisig on the FNX chain?
It also sounds like multi-sig accounts won't be possible at all on the FXT chain.

Phasing will be possible on the child chains.
Whether it's possible on the FXT chain remains to be seen. (This is how I understood it)
Perhaps Jean Luc can lean in on this.

FNX (Transaction Tokens for the FNX Child Chain)
The distribution of the FNX Token will be based on each account’s NXT holdings at the time of the Nxt 2.0 Genesis block creation.

Above the meaning is in January 1, 2017 nxt2.0 creation block release, according to the time held in exchange for NXT sub chain currency fnx it?

Q3 2017 around September 1st 2017, and distribute FNX according your wallet NXT balance.

FXT (Main Chain Tokens)
...

FNX (Transaction Tokens for the FNX Child Chain)
...
Is it still the plan to have the main chain token named FXT, or will it be ARDR / Ardor or something?
I will ALWAYS confuse the names FXT & FNX, so replacing at least one of those names would be a good thing imo.

Updated the OP slightly for now.
Once we have the style guide for Ardor done, we'll do a make-over :)

Should be end of this week.

I have a question
will nxt coin continue exist after IGNIS distribution 2017 Q3?
if yes, does that mean there will be 3 kind of tokens in this system:Ardor/IGNIS/NXT ?

Yes, it will.

No, it doesn't.
Nxt and Ardor are completely separate.

We will have one system with one kind of token and one system with one "mother token" (ARDR) and many child tokens. :)

Thanks!
and I still have questions about this
when NXT 2.0 run, will NXT 1.0 exist for a period of time just because everything on NXT 1.0 need to be migrated to NXT2.0?
or NXT 1.0 will still work as a long-lasting system even after migration finished?
is there any plan about when nxt 1.0 stop running?

Nxt 1.0 will just continue to run. It can only be stopped when all the nodes stop running it. So it's up to the Nxt node runners. The current devs will continue to update it for one year. Maybe new devs will rise, or Nxt runs further just as it is.  :)

The current devs will continue to update it for one year.

This is not exactly how it is:

The Nxt devs have committed to *at least* one year and if it's vital for people to do this longer, they will. Of course, we are also on the lookout for additional devs to spread the workload. :)

After the devs have ported Nxt over to Ignis and since they (Julurida) hold 50% of the later, will devs hand the key of Nxt to a new team who may want to independently maintain Nxt and maybe move it along a different direction?

Hi. Now that Jelurida was founded and its definded goal it is to finance the development, is the 50% Ignis share for funding still relevant?

Imo this fact should be clarified as fast as possible to have clear conditions for eventual ignis investors and nxt buyers.

At this moment, yes.

Jelurida is working (and has been working before incorporation) hard on securing funding via various sources.

We consider an IGNIS sale to be a last resort, but we at this time, this is still the plan and will stay in force until we clearly communicate otherwise.

Do I understand it right (it's important), that Ignis will be distributed according to NXT 1.0 distribution (not Ardor distribution) at the time of Ardor/Ignis launch (Q3 2017), the snapshot will be instant, not long-lasting like in the case of Ardor?

And NXT won't become an Ardor childchain? NXT remains intact, Ardor/Ignis is just a spin-off coin?

Nxt remains intact, yes.
Ardor is..... a spin-off coin? I wouldn't call it that.
Ignis is the first child chain on Ardor (with Nxt's current features + more).

I really think you should re-read the OP and
https://nxtforum.org/core-development-announcements/nxt-2-0-overview/   :)

I read it several months ago. And I remember I had an impression that NXT will become Ardor's childchain. But later posts left impression that NXT will stay independent as it is now. It's an important and simple question. I used the word "intact", but unfortunately it doesn't describe the situation clear enough. It's possible to make NXT a childchain and still consider and call it 'intact'. So please give a short and clear answer: will NXT become a childchain or will it remain independent?

NXT will remain independent and be supported by the current Nxt/Ardor core devs for at least a year.
