whens the last time over 6K people who had never heard of NXT learned of NXT last time?

250.000 readers of http://www.scribd.com/doc/214163135/Nxt-in-Outperform-Magazine - it cost about 900 Nxt

That is a bullshit statistic and you know it all too well. Just because you put ad in a paper that is PERHAPS read by 250K that doesn't mean even 1% actually read the article about it.
And also if we are to count people who may have glanced at it (since you use the 250K number) then I can also say that additionally TENS OF THOUSAND saw the NXT SHOWMATCH reddit thread, the forum posts etc.

These was guys PRESENTING NXT with details and explanation and comparing it to Bitcoin and DOGEcoin which was well known in the eSport scene already. There was a 13 BTC showmatch in the same community at the height of the Bitcoin value (13 000 dollars), so there was a reference point.

Like I told you: the eSport scene is a HUGE market filled with the EXACT target audience we want. Teens and guys in their 20s who love technology and got money to spend.

There is a reason that the ad you refer to as "900 NXT" only cost 900 NXT. If the adspot was effective it would cost more. It's the laws of marketing. You should google it.

If you watched or even organized a first starcraft event, then a post-mortem report about the first showmatch would be useful too

Yeah, i will include some details on the showmatch that we put on but the majority of it will be about the tournament.

it is hard to get these data :D

But you can look at new accounts in blockchain explorer:

Quote
Day : 92    84
Day : 91    87
Day : 90    111
Day : 89    116
Day : 88    155 - this day was affected by starcraft match
Day : 87    145
Day : 86    163

you can compare this with 20th and 21st March, when I did last marketing campaign:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=412243.msg5809579#msg5809579

Interesting data points salsacz. The people i talked to who watched the event afterwards said they had checked out NXT and thought it was interesting and said they would check it out.

Unfortunately it is hard to say for sure. We were directing people to check out nxtcrypto.org so possibly we could see if there was a traffic spike on that day?

One thing i think would be good to do would be to setup a webpage with a simple redirect so we could better track the turnover rate from viewership to looking into NXT.

There could maybe be a special page for this, like - starcraft.nxtcrypto.org :D - but actually my idea about this was not based on the numbers of new accounts, I was asking for a report/article about it so I would be able to post it to some important news sites, so it was aimed to the long term goals

 - the thing is - is Nxt really prepared for people from the non-crypto world? Right now?

I think with NRS client definitely not, because this is not a software for other people, even if they are used to deal with game cracking.

The situation is slowly better thanks to the wesley's client - first that I downloaded and it worked, there were no bugs/errors/puzzles... So the first step should be soon - having wesley's client as our default client instead of NRS.

But what else? Without wordpress plugins, Nxt is still very unfriendly to all retailers. If we have a kickstarter, that could be better, because then Nxt could be really useful for anyone. Starcraft people could come here and fund their own starcraftcon or anything.

The other thing is a marketing. Yes, right now Nxt is only just like other cryptos, even like Dogecoin. What Dogecoin fans do, is - if they fund anything, they spread the word, they share the news about their Olympic/Nascar/etc fundings. So everyone is informed about their acts even weeks after the funding. This is why we do this, why we want to support such events. To get attention of media. Last time there were some links at some sites or forums, but no mainstream Magazines were involved and after the match - we had no new info about the event so we weren't allowed to use it for other marketing campaigns

If we compare Nxt to Dogecoin, I think we will be ready for such events with integrated wesley's client. But if we want to be compared to Ethereum, we should focus on research and education till summer and then with released FANTASTIC features, we can focus on mainstream. Right now we should spend more resources on development, education, looking for our visions, studying Nxt and looking for university students/teachers/cryptographers to come and join us.

So to help solving my little puzzle, I have a little question for TemWealth: why is better to have a tournament in April than in August/September? thank you

I think one of the points you have missed COMPLETELY salsa is that this wasn't just about getting X amount of new users. It's the most cumbersome task in the world right now to get NXT. I already told you this way before the showmatch.

It's about putting NXT into the subconscious of people, so that when people search "NXT" they don't just find LEGO and Wrestling.
When you've seen something once your brain will notice it the next time. This is a well-documented phenomena in psychology. This is what marketing is all about.

Sure we probably got a small surge in users from it, but that wasn't the primary goal

Yeah, i think putting together a page even if its just a redirect to the main page of nxtcrypto would help with statistics gathering. Shouldnt be to hard to throw together i think.

Im not 100% sure what you mean so correct me if im wrong. But you are requesting an article before the event? I was planning on working on something like that for the announcement thread.

I agree that the NXT ecosystem needs to evolve a bit more but i do anticipate an easy to use client would be out before the event is ready. Along with the launch of the asset exchange i feel would be in a good position in order to get a good first impression of NXT.

I do not see it being a big deal if there arent shops at the time of the event honestly. Retailers want to see positive growth or good publicity in NXT before putting in the time to develop there storefronts to support NXT which would be able to be provided with events such as a starcraft tournament and articles written about it. Overstock did not invest the development time into bitcoin until it started to get huge publicity not when it was a small tight knit group who believes in the future of the concept. It will be the same with NXT and we have to start somewhere if we want companies outside of small startups which are mostly only known to the NXT community to support NXT.

And we could do that. But remember the last time it was more so a proof of concept. If you want to try and get huge amounts of media attention then you can try to but as ive said before that really is not my area of expertise so i would be happy to provide any information needed but i do not think it would be best for me to be in charge of that portion of it.

The reason i would want to focus on shooting for late april/early may would be in order to try and get around around scheduling conflicts with other events such as WCS and all. The biggest thing we want to avoid is scheduling conflicts with other events competing for viewers.

yes,NSR is really not a better choice for promotion.
As I deeply feel,I have to teach every Chinese who is interested in Nxt.
They asked,I answered,it is very tired,so I made some picture and text instructions for them.

Could be an option. Either way we would figure something out before the event to gather some data for use on the event.

I have just discussed this, and at this moment we feel the time is not yet ripe for us to vote on the plan.

Constructive discussion has been had, but we feel we need to flesh this out more.
Let me stress that this delay is because we feel the plan definitely has potential, otherwise there would be a vote which probably just would be "no".

So, in the interest of making this plan doable and making it work, I am hereby extending the discussion period to Monday 14th.
That will be the definite date for the vote.

Until then, I ask all members of the MC to step in and ask questions and work with TeamWealth to make this work or show why it shouldn't be done.

On behalf of the MC,

Damelon

Ok, Will be glad to continue answering any questions anyone may have.

Also, Due to the delay there would not be enough time to get everything organized in time for the end of april/early may. So we could target mid may or almost any time frame and work around the WCS schedule and just invite people who are not competing during that time due to being knocked out of WCS or something else. Just one issue with waiting a long time with crypto currency based events is the value is unstable and if the value would exceed 10,000 USD then we would have to delay it until we could get a license from blizzard which could take anywhere from a week to a month.

http://wcs.battle.net/sc2/en/about/community-tournaments for the restrictions on events if anyone wants to read up on them.

A couple of questions:

1) How will Nxt be promoted during the match, and who is providing text/materials?

2) Can you provide a more detailed breakdown of the budget, including how Nxt prizes will be allocated/awarded?

Re: the timing -- I think the delay is actually a good thing. It is highly likely that wesley's browser-based interface will be integrated with the source at that time, which puts us in a great position to promote it.

1) How will Nxt be promoted during the match, and who is providing text/materials?

The casters will be able to give a pitch about NXT during some downtime ingame when they think it is suitable. There will be short 30 second to one minute videos for NXT
explaining in layman terms what NXT is and some of its more useful features. There will be a logo ingame on all maps of nxt, example here.

http://i.imgur.com/GL3TwQD.jpg

Although i think it would have to be reworked a tiny bit to be more visible on some ingame maps. Probably just a small border around it although im not 100% sure yet.

And also the logo of NXT will be on the overlays the casters will use for there webcams and inbetween games.

2) Can you provide a more detailed breakdown of the budget, including how Nxt prizes will be allocated/awarded?

80,000 NXT

45,000 prizepool

17,500 for casters

10,000 for marketing materials and overlays and other stuff along those lines including translation of the overlay's text into the casters native languages.

5,000 NXT incase other stuff goes over. If not then it would go to me for managing the 16 players making sure that they have all the information needed on what NXT is and when the event is what the rules are when they are going to play. Making sure the casters have all the stuff they would need and all that.

Re: the timing -- I think the delay is actually a good thing. It is highly likely that wesley's browser-based interface will be integrated with the source at that time, which puts us in a great position to promote it.

Possibly, you guys probably have more information on the behind the scenes stuff so yeah.

Here are a few other followups:

Do you know who the casters are?  Will they be folks who have broadcast show matches in the past?

How will those short videos work -- are scripts provided for the casters, or do they wing it? In other words, how do we prep them?

Apologies for barraging with what may seem like dumb questions but I want to make sure I have a good feel for the whole thing :)

No worries, i would rather answer any questions that you may have then have misinformation in the air.

Do you know who the casters are? Will they be folks who have broadcast show matches in the past?

No, nothing is set in stone as i want to confirm funding before proceeding with organizing things. I am going to try and see if the casters from the previous showmatch would be available for the english and polish streams but if not then i can find other people.

Yes, they will be experienced in casting events in the past. This will give us an establisbed viewerbase who would know who they are and enjoy there casting style.

How will those short videos work -- are scripts provided for the casters, or do they wing it? In other words, how do we prep them?

I think we have some misunderstanding here. They would be premade video clips they could play inbetween matches or
whenever explaining in a professional way what nxt is, another could explain like the asset exchange. These would be made to be understoof by people who dont know what Cryptocurrencies are at all let alone NXT. They could also be used in other events or whatever not just this event.

I will do my best t explain the basics of NXT to the casters but we will also provide them with in there own language a set of facts they could use to base there arguments off of such as NXT being a few thousand percent more energy efficent then bitcoin and things along those lines. They would not have a script as it would not be natural and not give the best impression. We want what they say to be there own words not words being stuffed into there mouthes which would not fit there talkng style at all or anything. They are professional sports commentators not really professional voice actors who could make it seem natural.
