I am also working on another potential long shot for some alternative ASIC equipment.  Is there any chance anyone might know of anywhere selling just ASIC chips (preferably the 200 GH golden nonce chips) in small'ish quantities (say, 5-10 chips to start)?  These would be to provide to some local electrical engineers I work with who design their own boards and ASICs every day (and who already have good relationships with a local board foundry).

I've posted a request in the hashfast thread at bitcointalk and this came out:

Does anyone have a small amount (5-10) of golden nonce chips to sell?

A guy I know has some technicians at hand who could design an asic board.
Hashfast will sell you chips.
And especially the design files. No need to develop a new board when the existing one is working decently.

I would like to have more informations about the new board design that more than halves the costs. Because its something I would be probably interested into investing. They give us the chips for free and we pay less than $0.4/GH to have working hardware. Maybe we could oraganise a big group buy among existing creditors.

Barber, Monica, etc, you are reading and you know my email address.

Maybe you try to contact hashfast directly:

@pf
What's wrong with the sha-profitability? It's showing 0.0015-0.0016 the last two days, btc mining is at 0.0029!

Maybe you should fall back to btc mining for a while if the profitibility of altcoins is so low.

I hope that when you come to issue the assets the ones that are taking the piss and are offering 10.001 and 10.002 so they top the list get dropped to the bottom !

Shit like that annoys me !

I am likely securing the real estate to house the community pool tomorrow morning (I am just waiting to hear back from jl777 if he agrees that I should commit to the space - it is by far the best fit that I could possibly have found though (electricity less than 10 cents a KWH) and pretty much unlimited room to grow (and essentially free cooling to boot)

The first 10 S3's should be arriving mid to late next week (they are just being processed in California, before they are being shipped to me in Canada).  Once i have the tracking number with them on their way to me here in Canada I will be ordering an additional 20, so by Aug 1st we should certainly have at least 5 TH online for the community pool and hopefully 15TH.

One important thing to remember here is that you are not investing in a fixed GH quantity of hash, as the pool will be aggressively reinvesting it's earnings to help grow the hashrate.  My calculations show that the pool should be able to grow itself significantly faster than the rate at which diff increases.  (after paying for it's space and power, 60% dividend, 40% hardware re-investment initially.)

I am able to confirm that the pool will not be restricted to only altcoins.  I will be adding in an additional option likely even sooner than Aug 1st in which the pool will have the option to mine BTC via P2Pool (and merge mine NMC, DVC, IXC at the same time) if it works out that it is more profitable than any of the SHA altcoins.  Imagine if we'd been able to catch the BTCD blockchain with 50TH instead of only 3TH originally!

hi pf,

any estimate on the amount of TH/s that will get added per week?
In other words, what is the size of the pool in TH/s that you expect by the end of year?

EDIT: Nevermind! I found my answer... 2 Th/S per week...

I hated putting specific numbers down because I don't really want to disappoint anyone.  The pool will be as large as the original funding is able to buy, and it will grow using 40% of it's profits (so the growth rate should compound over time - ie, each week it will grow with 40% of it's profits including the hashrate added previous weeks - this should keep it growing much faster than the diff rate increases).

In the other breaking news, I secured the physical home of the servers today and signed the contract for the place and paid the electricians for the wiring of the space.  We will be starting off with enough floor space for ~3 42U server racks and will be starting off with three 30-amp 240V circuits in the space. (they come off of a 3-phase 60-amp panel though, so we can easily and cheaply add two or three more 30-amp 240V circuits in the fuure).

I will be making a post closer to aug 1st that outlines the exact amounts of all the initial expenses/mining hardware.  The electrician is doing some work in the new space to run several 30-amp 240V circuits to it and I am waiting on delivery of the racks and PDU's.

I managed to get worked into the contract an absolutely amazing electricity rate - 5.85 cents CAD per KW/h plus a 5% markup (6.14 cents CAD per kilowatt hour). The reason for this is because the location is zoned heavy industrial and is in close proximity to a major rail yard.

They have for all intensive purposes more power than we could ever consume regardless of growth rate, and our hardware will be on a private meter so we only pay for what we consume.
I started the space off with a $25k CAD insurance policy - I will be expanding that amount to cover the rough cost of the hardware that is running in the space just to protect investor best interests. I am providing James with copies of the rental contract as well as insurance contract, and I'll get some pics in this thread once I get the racks (and maybe even the first S3's) set up.

Investors are putting in their bids like crazy.

Roughly estimating you have close to 15000 asset buy orders already.

Congrats on a successful launch.

The pool has issued 16,000 shares to market at the established price of 10 NXT/share.  Congratulations to all of the new shareholders.
There are 16,000 remaining shares that will be held in reserve at least for now until the first dividends are starting to get paid out.
The electrician should be wrapping up working in the space monday/tuesday, and I should be able to get the racks and PDU's set up hopefully wednesday after work.

In other news, I have talked with Damelon and he has agreed to help audit the Community Mining Pool funds at least initially (depending on the time commitment required) - we will be publishing full transparency in regards to our infrastructure costs, exchange fees paid and net BTC earned by the community mining hardware each payout interval.  This will all be available live through a dashboard on the hashrate.org site - I should have the first beta look at what the dashboard will look like available for people to look at either monday or tuesday evening.

Thanks again all!

I only ended up with 39 shares, even though I have bids out for another 361.  Boo. :(  Will the rest of the 16000 shares be released for 10 NXT?  Cause I'm leaving these orders out there.  I want more. ;)

At the moment it shows: Total 21 Bids, 14.045 pcs
So that seems to be okay :)

Out of the people wanting to buy on the books now, how many will get filled at 10 from the initial distribution?

Think there is about 23000? A big 15000 is there. If there were only 16,000 left to issue does that mean people are gonna be disappointed?

A heads up, advertising of mining pools is now banned on BTT  :(

Not sure if this applies to mining pool assets...

I should be receiving the first of the miners still today and they should be able to be online today.  I will also be pushing some changes to the website (some big ones) later tonight to give shareholders their own section (as well as roll out a couple other things I've been working on).
I will be ordering another ~8 TH of mining hardware still today, and should receive them by mid next week.   The internet circuit at the dedicated space won't be installed until early next week, so the first 5 TH will have to be taken offline for an hour or so to move them to the space once the internet is operational there.  The electricians have finished all of their work in the space, though.
