Freebieservers: update

It’s been a busy week for Freebieservers and we have made significant progress in pushing forward our new campaign. We have collected around 20,000 NXT from donors, which has been mostly been used to pay our developer to create our custom platform.

Here is what we’ve managed to build in the last week:

Registration and tracking
Users can register for new accounts (email verification required on registration), log in and log out.
New sign-ups are checked for duplicate usernames and email addresses, and duplicate IP addresses.

We’ve created a database for new game product entries and for tracking the games users own. Users can now purchase games and add-ons with credits. Freebieservers is sent an email on purchase. We also store records of when users gain or spend credits.

The Open Auth system has been implemented; OA users have to confirm their email address and are asked for username, email and IP address on first login (these are checked against existing users to ensure no overlaps). After their initial login and email verificaiton, OA users are pretty much click-authentication (no need to enter any information). We have completed initial OA for Facebook and Google; Twitter will follow.

IIS is set up on a Windows Server 2008 machine for public testing. Our Publish system is successfully set up (we can deploy a live website from Visual Studio). The project has also been upgraded from MVC 4 to MVC 5.

Payment system
The payment system is fully implemented and users can purchase credits from PayPal. (Our donation system works in much the same way, and we have started work on a more flexible donation system.) Payments generate invoices both for Freebieservers and the customer, and logs are created in the process. We have implemented several security checks for fraud via the PayPal IPN.

The user-management panel is under construction. Users can change their password and will soon be able to change email address, re-send confirmation, and change/set their donation IPN handler, with documentation.     

NXT
A JSON API helper has been implemented for future work with JSON. We have started implementing the MyNXT.info JSON API (for wallet transactions) and implemented BTer’s JSON API (for conversions in prices). Our USD to NXT converter returns values every 10 seconds from BTer’s API. Our next step is to implement Coinbase API integration.


We hope you will agree that this represents great progress towards our goal of creating a platform that is closely integrated with NXT, enabling and incentivising new users in our ideal demographic to explore NXT and cryptocurrency in more depth.

Just wanted to keep the community updated on progress with this project. This has been a huge eye opener for us at FS. This has been a massively great opportunity for us to test our advertising solutions and helped us analyze our monetization for the coming months. I am incredibly grateful to everyone that has helped us make this a reality.

Having that said, there are a few pointers I'd like to make.

1. The nxt integration we made has helped us garner atleast a few users with interest into nxt. There have been orders placed via nxt, users asking us more about nxt via support tickets and the blockchain has proof of multiple users transacting the nxt they have received in the give away. We are  launching our new panel on the 10th of this month. We will be going to avenues like Facebook, reddit and forums to promote us as a business. If the budget of the project can be further expanded we'd be glad to accommodate Nxt in our expansion.

2. There's been HIGH demand / number of sign ups on the site over the past month. A major chunk of this can be traced back to the launch of our new bill panel. What this has often meant is, a large number of users have signed up on both at our side and mynxt's side. The rate of sign up has been so substantially high that mynxt's affiliate payout panel has often gone empty. If we are to continue delivery - we'd be in need of more funds. If the community can come forward with donations, we'd be glad to continue delivering users to mynxt and nxt in general.

3. We are glad to upgrade the site with more educational content from the nxt community. Users are welcome to look at our modals and suggest changes to be made if we are going to be continue promotions.

4. The team at FS has done a really good job in delivering what was promised. We've delivered 1650+ users on the second of Jan , while our promised deadline for 1000 users was a distant Jan 15. We are confident we can finish the delivery of all users over the weekend. We are looking forward to larger deals with the nxt community. I appeal to the committees , whales and members within the community to come forward to sponsor further promotion and marketing.

5. We have a capacity of delivering 500,000+ impressions for videos and it is ever increasing. We have had active discussions with video advertisers outside Nxt. This has a monetary worth of over 25k USD. We'll be utilizing this to bring in revenue in case we don't close deals. I'd preferably be workign directly with crypto communities and closing deals with lead dev's personally. So if the community would like to use this to promote the coins - am all ears.

6. I look forward to closing deals with multiple coins - Nxt and the ones within SuperNet so we can keep our campaigns live continually. We are soon to be going forward with our panel to places like reddit. It lies in my best interest to keep the relationship going so we can have tech like Nxt's coming in the spotlight.

Okay, so in the spirit of keeping the community up to date on this partnership, I wanted to share my side of the experience as well.

• When we started, the objective was to introduce new people to NXT. Freebieservers had a lot of users, and the age range was very good (16-35 male americans). MyNXT wanted new users both for MyNXT but also for NXT itself. Since we are a NXT company, the more users NXT has, the more MyNXT succeeds as a consequence
  
  
• When FS and I started to discuss the options of working together, it became clear that the current MyNXT affiliate system would not be enough. Our system was designed to just keep track of referrals coming through an affiliate link, and we wanted to pay FS for each user referral but also give NXT to each referred user as a gift. Our system could not do it in an automated way, and developing it meant delaying the plugin system. But we decided to go for it, and we managed to get the new system done in 1 week. Communication with FS was crucial to make sure we didn't waste any time, and that worked well.
  
  
• What we did is that MyNXT introduced a voucher system that affiliates can generate and distribute to their users. Once a user registers using one of those vouchers, our system sends some NXT as a gift to the user and pays FS for the affiliate referral. As FS mentioned, we had many challenges, for example during the course of the last few weeks we had issues with the affiliate account running out of funds, and this is obviously due to the big amount of users being referred to us, which is great of course. Not just great for MyNXT but great for NXT, because each one of those users that use NXT, transferring NXT form the MyNXT wallet to FS, then purchasing items from FS may talk to their friends and family and get more people to join NXT.
  
  
• Every time we had issues (like the account running out of funds, or users not properly inputting their vouchers), FS was very helpful, flexible and reliable. We worked out solutions together and implemented, some times the necessary change was on our side, sometimes on their side and many times in both. But it always worked well. This partnership has also been great from a marketing perspective for MyNXT as FS is very active in the forums and he always keeps people up to date, mention our partnership and his excitement with NXT. I would recommend working with FS to anyone reading this, and I am looking forward to continue working with him.
