I noticed a few things in the Mac Wallet.

  • I can't rightclick on the assets in the assets-collum to delete or organize them.
  • The app can't remember an account at the launch of the app
  • Sometimes I see Java as a program running in the dock besides the Nxt Wallet

That's it.

I think that is a bug with NRS, not the wallet. Re-downloading the blockchain worked for me to fix it.

Thanks to Wesley for fixing the problem with the Mac Wallet!!!eleventy!11

I have confirmed it works, at least on El Capitan.

You can download it at the usual place:

http://nxtfreemarket.com/downloads/Nxt_Wallet_Mac.zip

MD5: 661ecdee5c3092d735de46daf52dbcda
SHA1: 009d277b1831bcf0d5e059c6f6e8b9878cc9dddf
SHA256: 9cd52ba10b0a769eeb8afa5c81fff38e7a45cc86225ce46daa77206f6ec796fb

That version isn't correct (for me). Look at this:

I have the Nxt Mac Wallet on more computers, but not everywhere do I see the Shapeshift exchange. How is that possible?

If you are running 1.6.2 you should be able to load the ShapeShift exchange page by pressing the exchange icon on the top bar to the left of the cog wheel icon.

I know, but there isn't a button. And in the settings no option to activate it.

EDIT: When I go to http://localhost:7876/index.html after starting the Mac Nxt Wallet, I see the new version. (I didn't see account ledger too in the Mac Nxt Wallet btw)

The ShapeShift feature works for me. I have rebooted recently though, maybe that will help.

I already got few responses so let's do this. Here is a link to the installer dmg file https://mega.nz/#!FFsm1RhI!YZ02ZUSQEb04HlvkfEsFDozeeR93St8xYuxB_Gy0WTI
In general I'm not expert in OS/X so it's quite possible that I did something that is completely non-standard and/or very confusing. If so let me know.

Once you download the disk image file double click it to launch. The file is signed using the NXT foundation certificate.
First thing first, verify that gatekeeper does not block it.
Now drag the NXT package for example to the Applications folder.
After a short "copying" message, you should end up with a file named "nxt-installer" with an NXT icon in the Applications folder.
Launch this file to get to the standard IzPack installer that we already support on Windows.
Follow the installation dialogs to completion, then from the command line launch the file mac-run.sh, this file is similar to the familiar run.sh except that it launches the JRE bundled with the installer so that users does not have to install Java separately.

Post here your feedback.

Few more things, to download from Mega you should better use Chrome not Safari on the Mac.
I also realized now that signing the .dmg file is not enough and that I also need to sign nxt-installer.app otherwise gatekeeper blocks the installer.
Please wait with testing until I figure this out.

Here we go again, here is a link to a new installer dmg file https://mega.nz/#!9YkX1LZZ!F5I1_LXdsWxTcijUoOWn6zYGeT8j1ulR-NdSbCQhQKk

- Why should the installer be moved to Applications folder? This is normally not needed.
- Could not install in /Applications folder (did not ask for authentication, I'm a normal user, not an admin)
- Installed in /Users/name/Applications instead, however at the end it gave an error:

Error executing /bin/chmod a+x /Users/name/Applications/Applications/run.sh (don't know why it uses this wrong path?)

- Checked and it did indeed install to /Users/name/Applications/Applications

(but no run.sh was there)

Edit: OK , re-ran install, when I chose custom folder I thought it was going to put a subfolder in that folder. Now made a new folder /Users/name/applications/NXT -- but when selected the input box changed it to /Users/name/applications/NXT/Applications.. same run.sh error

I also reproduced the chmod error, checking.
/Applications/NXT is the default set by the installer. The problem is I can't set this default folder to a specific username during packaging, perhaps I can set it to ~/nxt but this is ugly. Maybe I can parameterize the user id, checking.

I think I'm getting there, here is the 3rd attempt https://mega.nz/#!FNk2kLIC!PcmJPtNIHIcwMUG1dBW0yIMf87RQvvNOKQAmxCai_AY
The app is signed, chmod issue should be solved and the default folder is "nxt" under the user folder.
Please give it a try and let me know.

Works, but /Users/name/Applications/nxt would make more sense. Actually, just /Applications would make the most sense, IF the installer knew how to ask for admin privileges.

A launcher app so that the user does not have to mess with terminal is also welcome.

A few things... agree with Wes on the terminal launch for handling the java install.

Also, Safari is ubiquitous on OS X, and I only keep Chrome around for Mega downloads... would be nice if we could have a Safari-friendly d/l for beginners.

I changed the default install location to /applications, which then of course dumped half-a-dozen different folders in my main apps folder. Not very Mac-like. Not a big deal, but I had to go back and do the default install of /applications/nxt. Would be great if we could have a monolithic Mac app that had package contents (not sure if that's possible with your cross-platform installer).

Strictly from a simple end user's perspective (someone like my Dad). I wouldn't use this. I open up my /nxt folder, and I see 32 separate files, with no apparent or obvious app/launcher ("hey, click ME, I'm the icon that fires up the Mac NXT Wallet!").

I open up the read me, and there's nothing on the Mac install. Nada. Just Linux and Windows.

I appreciate the effort for a single, unified installer. It's definitely needed. But for the Mac, we need something like Bitcoin Core -- a single icon that launches an app. Can I use what was installed? Sure, *I* can, but can other users? Way too complicated imho.

For now, I'll stick with PoofKnuckle's solution -- much more elegant and simple.

The official download will be Safari friendly.

Based on feedback from Wesley I changed the default folder to <UserHome>/nxt , I can change it back to /Applications/NXT
In any case don't install directly to /Applications like on Windows you do not install directly to "c:\Program Files".

I can probably generate a native launcher to wrap the nxt.jar. Need to experiment with it.

Yep, need to update the documentation.

The integrated installer has the following advantages over the old installer (except the obvious advantage that it is generated automatically from the build by the core developers)
1. It is digitally signed and therefore can be installed when gatekeeper is enabled.
2. Java is bundled inside the installer.

After updating with Java 8, no mac NRS that I have works...1.5.13, 1.5.15, 1.6.2..even after re-booting. What is the best solution to get the client working?

What is the web-wallet link?

Thanks

Sending dividend with the Nxt Wallet app is not working. It's stuck on "Submitting...".
